It will be a great relief to many local voters that Mr. Zahawi will soon no longer be MP for Stratford. This decision has been a long time coming.
That his resignation statement fails to mention a single meaningful achievement that he has delivered for this town during his 14 years as MP says everything about his negligible tenure as our local MP.
For Nadhim, this safe seat has always been nothing more than a platform for his own political career.
The local party now has an opportunity to select a new candidate who will be a strong and diligent local MP. They must seize that chance and not allow CCHQ to parachute another outsider careerist into this seat.
It is time to show the voters of Stratford some respect and give us the local conservative-minded candidate that this area wants and needs.
If they fail to do so and seek to use the good people of this constituency to once again to prop up another outsider’s political career, Stratford CAN will still run a local conservative candidate against them in the General Election.
